Tourism Value in the Canadian Economy
A recent Stats Canada report indicates tourism expenditures accounted for 2.2% of Canada's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2002. This matched the combined contribution of the agriculture, fishing, forestry and hunting industries, and was considerably more than the 1.3% contribution of the motor vehicle manufacturing industry. See Stats Canada Report from October 16, 2007.
Needless to say this may change as the Canadian $ value continues to increase relative to the U.S dollar.
